EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer)epdm

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) has several great performance and installation advantages that have made it one of the most popular single-ply roofing membranes in the industry for over 40 years.

Installation advantages are:

  • Extra wide (up to 15 meter) sheets provide a roof membrane installation with fewer welds, resulting in an expedited installation time.
  • This versatile membrane can be fully adhered, mechanically fastened, or ballasted creating installation flexibility according to the roofing system that you need.
  • The material is delivered on-site 100% cured. This means no waiting for the material to cure before installation can begin.
  • It is available in 45 mil and 60 mil thicknesses, allowing the customer to receive the best possible choice for their new roofing system.

Performance advantages are:

  • EPDM is a synthetic rubber roofing membrane that contains essential oils and carbon. This means it is an inert material with relatively little environmental impact.
  • This membrane is practically maintenance free, as well and offers an extended life span.
  • The U.V. and ozone resistance this material offers is unmatched by any other material currently on the market.
  • It is flexible in both hot and cold weather, decreasing the chance of accelerated deterioration due to seasonal temperature changes.

When considering a new roofing membrane for your building, remember that EPDM has been a versatile stronghold of the commercial roofing industry for over 40 years. The unmatched protection and extended life span offered by this material make it a great choice for nearly any commercial roof. Back to top

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)pvc roof

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), the predecessor to TPO, is another type of single-ply roofing system offered and has several great performance advantages.

Performance advantages include:

  • Due to its durable composition, this material is highly resistant to punctures and tears normally experienced by most commercial roofing membranes.
  • Unique resistance to fire that, when exposed, virtually extinguishes itself. Therefore considered one of the most fire resistance commercial roofing membranes offered.
  • This material can easily accommodate a wide range of temperature changes with little deterioration.
  • Perfect for industrial applications, this material is extremely resistant to industrial pollution and toxic chemical exposure.
  • This material is heat welded during installation. This creates a molecular bond between sheets that provides waterproofing, durability, and longevity advantages.
  • This material can also be coated or mixed with additives in order to comply with specific needs for individual roofing systems.
  • The use of chlorine in the composition of this material extends its lifespan, decreasing the need for early roofing membrane replacement.
  • It can be recycled repeatedly after initial use, it uses a low amount of non-renewable resources to create and requires the least amount of energy to produce out of any other roofing material on the market. Back to top

TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin)tpo

TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) offers several installation and performance advantages.

Installation advantages include:

  • Your choice of 45 mil or 60 mil material thicknesses (dependent on application).
  • Can be a fully adhered, mechanically fastened, or ballasted roofing system offering waterproofing, durability, and longevity advantages.
  • Is offered in wider 12 ft. sheets, requiring fewer welds on the surface and expediting the installation process.
  • Ideal material for re-roofing over a variety of existing roof membranes.

Performance advantages include:

  • Has a high energy efficiency rating that exceeds the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR minimum standards.
  • Most commonly offered in white, this membrane has extremely high reflectivity that helps reduce heat island effects in cities and lessens cooling requirements in warmer weather.
  • Seams are heat welded together, bonding the sheets on a molecular level and thus providing a more durable and weather-proof seal for your roofing system.
  • Is resistant to U.V. and ozone deterioration.
  • Is also resistant to mold and algae growth when maintained properly.
  • Because of its composition, this material is also extremely resistant to tears and impacts that are frequently the underlying cause of most commercial roofing leaks.

Most notably, TPO is an environmentally friendly, chlorine free material that can be easily recycled after its use as a roofing membrane has expired. It is also a great material to consider for those contemplating the addition of solar components to their new roofing system. Back to top
